I'm Only Working for Your Company Until I Find Something Better

This may seem harsh, or perhaps controversial, but I've been wanting to say it for a long time, so here it is:

I'm only working for your company until I find something better.

I don't care if your company is Microsoft, Google, Facebook, etc.  The same rule would apply: I'm only working for your company until I find something better.

Career satisfaction is something I don't take lightly.

One of the implications here, for those management types reading, is that if I'm currently working for your company, and you want me to continue working for your company, then you better make sure your company is the best company I could be working for.  I have options, and if at some point one of them becomes more appealing than your company, I'm a ghost.

Now, I will say that I slightly favor the company I'm currently working for at any given time, because of the hassle associated with moving to a new company (read: forms, forms, forms), but your hold on me is still tenuous at best.

That is all.

No, I didn't intend it to be a threat, and I hope it's not generally perceived that way.

Oops! I said the quiet part loud and the loud part quiet!

Seriously, though, it's fun to say what everyone's thinking.
